What’s the first thing you think of when you hear these words: Blue Eyeshadow.
If you’re anything like me, you’re probably thinking about the ‘80s or ‘90s. Or maybe a diner waitress rocking some pineapple earrings.
Blue eyeshadow and eyeliner tends to have a bad rap. It’s a retro color scheme that isn’t very popular these days. Well, I wanted to try a blue eyeshadow look that didn’t make you (or me) cringe.
So, I came up with this Modern Blue Eyeshadow look for today’s Face of the Day!
For my face, I used Benefit Cosmetics Hello Flawless! foundation, as usual. I also used L’Oreal Bare Naturale All-Over Mineral Glow for some warm blush.
For the lips, I have to admit it: I used the Saturday color from the Kardashian Beauty A Week of Kisses Mini Lip Gloss Set.
Don’t judge me! It’s a nice color, okay?
But, really, this look is all about the eyes. I decided on a double dose of blue with both blue eyeshadow and blue eyeliner.
Here’s what I used:
- A light matte beige color from the Maybelline The Nudes eye shadow palette on the brow bone and at the inner corner of my eye.
- The rest of the eye shadow colors came from the Sigma Crème de Couture Eye Shadow Palette. Passion Fruit in the crease, Blueberry Cream on the lid and Elderberry at the outside corner.
- Styli-Style Line & Seal Twist Mechanical Eye Liner in Lazuli on the top lashline and lower water line.
- Essence Lash Mania Reloaded Mascara on the top and bottom lashes.
What do you think of the blue? Would you wear this kind of look?
Personally, I really liked how this turned out, and would totally do it again.
I’m growing out my hair. Any suggestions?
Did you notice? As you can maybe tell in the full-face picture above, I’m growing out my black hair. My natural color (a dark blond/light brown) is already pretty long with about 4-inch roots.
Any advice or ideas on what to do next? I’m thinking maybe a reverse ombre once it gets a bit longer, since I don’t exactly want to cut my hair short to get rid of the black.
I’ve even started a hair inspiration Pinterest board.
Suggestions are much appreciated! Let’s chat about it in the comments.
