Despite being a seasoned beauty blogger, there are just some makeup-related things I don’t do very often. One big one: bold lips. I tend to focus way more on eyes than lips.
But, you know, it’s good to be well-rounded. Right? So, I decided to do some seriously bold lips for today’s Face of the Day.
I felt like I was smiling. I’m a lot happier than I look, I swear!
Aside from the bold lips, I kept my makeup really minimal. For my face, I used the Benefit Cosmetics Hello Flawless! foundation in “Me, Vain?” and Hard Candy Hide & Glow Cheek in Hot Date on my cheeks.
My eyes are about as minimal as it gets. I used a bit of the lighter shades from the Maybelline The Nudes eye shadow palette, then finished it off with Essence Lash Mania Reloaded Mascara.
No eyeliner for this girl!
But, the big thing about this look is the lips. Let’s take a closer look.
I started off by covering my lips in Pixi Concealing Concentrate to cover the natural color of my lips. This helped create pure color with the lipsticks I chose.
I didn’t use just one color for this look, I used two:
- Wet N Wild Mega Last Lip Color in Stoplight Red over the middle of the lips
- Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick in Raisin Rage around the outer edges
You can learn all about the two-color lip situation from Kandee Johnson: How to Get Tons of Compliments on Your Lip Color.
(Except that I used two lipsticks instead of a lipstick and lip liner.)
What do you think? Should I just stick to bold eye looks instead?
I need book recommendations!
Have you read any great books lately? Got something you think I should read? Let me know in the comments!
Here’s my recommendation: Read anything by Sarah Addison Allen. Her books are amazing. You can thank me later.
